How to Write Simple Movie Reviews

Most of the movie reviews we hear and read about are from critics. In reality a layman can write a better and more beautiful movie review on any movie without any jargon and technical terminologies. Ironically people who don’t give reviews are the most who depend on them.

The first and foremost thing to be focused upon before plunging into movie criticism is that the popularity of a movie review writer depends on the credibility and uniqueness of the criticism made. A good movie review criticizes the particular movie in an unambiguous manner. People want down t earth and simple reviews on movies which can in the end answer their question of should they go for it or not. Movie reviews can change the fate of a movie. They can make people aware of a movie months before its release and get them intriguing. Also they can rouse interest among the cinema lovers about a released and gone movie and in turn boost its DVD sales. As the industry is also aware of this phenomena they usually indulge in fake reviews in the form of blunt reviews praising it. However such reviewers face the test of time sooner or later only to perish.

Movie reviews need not be full fledged hour’s long story written down to paper. Just give the gist of the movie and also the important or punch lines. You can also quote them as such to give a more readability to the review. The movie review should be interesting even if the movie is not.

A small portion of your leisure time if set apart, can be utilized in a better way for you and many other movie buffs. By giving true and unbiased reviews you help a lot of folks out there who depend on the reviews before deciding on for a weekend movie. A good search in Google will produce a lot of websites which offers members to review and comment on released and to be released movies.

Spanking The Monkey Movie Review

We remember like it was yesterday how Spanking The Monkey made sons and moms a little nervous around each other, especially if they watched it together. This was David O. Russell’s debut film and it made quite the impression during the indie film revolution of the 90′s.

Spanking The Monkey came out in 1994 when indie films were falling out of the air after the Sundance Film Festival really kicked into high gear with them. We were seeing everything from Sex, Lies and Videotape led the fray at Sundance and Spanking The Monkey was another darling at Sundance and critics raved about it. This was also right before the reign of Harmony Korine (Gummo) and Gus Van Sant who took indie films to that next level. Spanking The Monkey is one of those films that you just have to see (most have heard about it), but it’s a very curious character study of coming of age and that mother/son relationship bond in a dark comedy way. It’s quite the bleak film in a Todd Solondz way, and you’d never think that Russell would go on to make Three Kings.

Spanking The Monkey takes a extremely close look at the sexual agonies and gloomy life of Raymond Aibelli (Jeremy Davies), a pre-med student who’s forced to give up an internship in Washington to stay home in suburbia to nurse his mother who has broken her leg. Ray’s father is a hypocritical, horndog cheating salesman of those wonderful Anthony Robbins type videos. After dragging Ray back home, he lays out his very precise ground rules. All of these rules involve his dog, a German Shepherd that gets better treatment than either his wife or his son. After basically forcing his son to put his life on hold, he goes further to tell him that he is not to use the car to walk the dog and he has to clean its delicate gums with a special toothbrush every day. This is the summer that Ray realizes he will have to live with and most of it is spent trying to find a quiet place to spank the monkey without the family dog constantly intruding along with taking care of his mother and dealing with his feelings for the girl next door. This is not to mention that he has to shower his mother which for me would be many a son’s worst nightmare come true.

If you don’t know what happens next in this film, we are not about to spoil it for you, but we don’t suggest sons watching it with their moms.

Fast Cash Method 2: Video Review Cash Out!

This is the second cash method in my series of fast cash methods. I hope you had some fun with the first fast cash method. It should make you a few hundred in the first month with minimum work.

It is a simple method for you to use videos out on affiliate sales without a website. Video marketing is so much more effective than creating your own website and generating traffic to the website. There are fewer steps and more opportunities for you to get the affiliate sale.

More importantly, if you are using YouTube, you will get a chance to score a good search engine ranking for a niche keyword. YouTube is owned by Google. In order to improve their search quality, they incorporated the video search inside. Hence, when you search for a keyword, top ranking videos will appear on first page (above all the other results).

I scored a few hundred dollars a month with super niche keywords (with less than 10,000 hits) using this method and my video is ranked in the top 10 consistently simply because it has so little competition.

Okay, let’s get down to the steps of this fast cash method. You start of with deciding which niche you are going into and the product you want to sell. On top of the usual criteria of click-bank gravity score and search engine results, add one more to your list, video viewership. You want to make sure there is not much competition in YouTube for your type of video. I always do a search for my keyword and look at the first 20 results on YouTube. If all the videos have a low viewership of less than 1,000, I am pretty confident that I can get into the top 10 rankings for my niche. If there is too much competition (meaning there are videos with 100,000 views or more, see if you can apply the first fast cash method instead).

Watch the top 5 videos to get a sense of whether people are doing the same thing as you are and how well they are doing. Look out for how professional the video is and see if there are any good points you can follow.

Once you nailed down on a niche and the keywords, it is time to make your video. I use Camtasia (and so do thousands of top internet marketers) because it is easy to use and it comes with its own editing studio. You can use it to upload to YouTube directly once you are done, saving you time. However, if you are just starting out and not willing to spend a large amount of money, a free open-source program called Camstudio is available online.

There are three ways to do your video presentation.

If you are shy and prefer that people do not see your face, use a power-point or Google Docs Presentation (which is again free). Power-points gives you more fancy animations and design options but Google Docs Presentation is catching up. Plus, one of the perks of using Google Docs is that you do not need to be afraid of version or font problems that lead to a terrible mess in your presentation. I once had to redo my full video series presentation because of font problems.

The second way is for people who can’t speak good English or have problems with diction. This is not a big problem because you can always get a friend or pay someone to do it for you. One website I recommend you can go to hire someone to do it for you is Fiverr. What you can do is to get the video done and send the person you hire a script. As the video run, ask the person to read it. Once this is done, you can add the audio recording to the video using video editing software. If you are not using Camtasia, try Windows Live Movie Maker (it is free and amazing).

The third way is for people who have good diction and are not shy in front of the camera. Use a web cam to record your face as you are talking. I highly recommend this method because it is much more personal and you can always add in the bits where you demonstrate the affiliate product you are selling through video editing software. If you are selling an offline affiliate product, it is always great to show them how it is used.

When I started out, I like to use a simple script as a reference and plan out my video presentation screen by screen. It is much more systematic. For the content, here’s a rough guideline on what you can do:

* Sound and look excited about the product (it is easy if you pick something you know a lot about or like)
* Introduce the product and its benefits (share about three strong points)
* Share about your own personal stories and experiences with the product (people love stories and stories are so much more persuasive)
* Ask them to click on the link about 3 – 5 times throughout the video but make it subtle or it just gets irritating
* Talk about a small problem with the product to sound more objective
* Have a strong call to action in the end e.g. you can ask them to click on the link once they finish watching

Here are some things not to do:

* Do not sound negative or sarcastic
* Do not lie about the product or service
* Do not tell them that it is an affiliate link (it has been shown that if you have seemingly less to gain from recommending a product or service, you come across as more credible)

Once you are done editing, upload your video on youtube and put your affiliate link in the descriptor box. I like to add annotations and comments inside the video to remind people to click on the link. If I got a bit of time, a nice opening and closing music will make the video a lot more professional.
